Juan Manuel Marquez Destroys Juan Diaz; Marquez vs Diaz Fight Result

Juan Manuel Marquez (50 -4 -1 37 kos) defeated Juan Diaz in spectacular fashion to retain his WBA, WBO, IBO and The Ring Magazine Lightweight championship in Toyota Center, Houston, Texas, USA. A huge Marquez uppercut felled Juan Diaz (34 - 2 17 kos) 2:40 of the ninth round. Frankly speaking, it was a come from behind victory from Marquez who is losing to Diaz on points.

The first round started explosively thereby only affirming the truth that two Mexican warriors are indeed fighting despite the pre-fight talk of who's the real Mexican. Juan Diaz staggered Marquez twice in the first and second round. Marquez was cut in the second. From the third to the fifth round, it was a Juan Diaz show. The hometown boy from Houston was trapping Marquez and punishing him with left hooks and jabs. Marquez looked bewildered and old. The action ebbed in the sixth with Juan Diaz trying to take a breather and at that time Juan Manuel Marquez was bleeding and his face looked swollen. Marquez was on the verge of losing but came back in the eighth round. A cut over Diaz's eye (ruled as accidental headbutt by the referee) invigorated Marquez. Finally in the ninth round, a Marquez's uppercut caught Diaz and hometown boy never recovered.
Marquez vs Diaz lived up to expectations.

In an interview, Juan Manuel Marquez said he wants to fight retired Floyd Mayweather. However only a $20 million guaranteed pay will convince Mayweather to come out of retirement.
