It seems democracy in my country is being THREATENED again and again by allegations of corruption. I hope the democratic institutions could withstand another massive pressure from anarchist and basically people who want to put themselves in power regardless of ideological stance. I pray that our democracy would stand firm. Yes, democracy is imperfect but I prefer this. I don't want to be shackled. Our ancestors dreamed of a future where our country's people are FREE from OPPRESSION. Nothing is m0re oppressive than Communism. I prefer freedom - it is a God-given right. Democracy is the only form of governance that jibes with man's tendency to live free - other forms, despite what its cheerleaders are saying, are nothing compared to DEMOCRACY. DEMOCRACY RULES!!! I support the idea of Democracy and its institutions but not SPECIFIC persons or the more appropriate term characters.

DEMOCRACY RULES!

ORE WA OSEI-SAN SUKI DA
Rizal had a Japanese girlfriend Osei-san. However, the romance wasn’t meant to be. Heartbroken Rizal wrote the following about Osei-san:
Sayonara, sayonara! You will never come to know that I have thought of you again nor that your image lives in my memory; and nevertheless I always think of you. Your name lives in the sighs of my lips; your image accompanies and animates all my thoughts. When shall another divine afternoon like that in the
I find these facts very interesting as it humanizes our hero. He is human too he loved and got hurt. Luckily for us, he wrote what he felt at that time. Rizal writes poetically even in times of agony.

STOP MAKING THINGS UP!!!
November 5
Haha...The lieutenant has a career writing telenovelas for Univision! This was probably their practice and I don't regret my decision doubting Pigafetta's Battle of Mactan account. This Spanish Lieutenant made things up knowing there were Filipino witnesses present how much more Pigafetta whose accounts no one could corroborate? I can't blame Correa - the Negrense people OWNED him!
I wonder what he wrote in that account maybe it goes something like this:
We were surrounded by fully armed indio soldiers (reality - angry townspeople probably carrying sticks and stones literally and some rebels) probably a thousand against us brave 17 men in Silay Church. After hours of brutal skirmish none of our brave Guardia Civil were killed but the indios suffered more with dead and wounded littered all over the field of battle. Viva Espana, we lost but our dignity is intact.
Much like Battle of Mactan 1000 Mactan warriors vs. 49 Spaniards and some reinforcements by Humabon. According to Wikipedia only three of the Spaniards were killed.
“The hijos de perros are surrounding us Teniente what shall we do?” asks Guardia Civil one.
“But Teniente.” Interjected the Padre
“No padre. A man has got to do what is asked of him. Vi----va Es…there…are so many of them. We surrender Padre. Tell them not to burn the church. Keep those torches away…”
Excuse me I got carried away. This historical fact amused me.Not everyone is happy with Cinco De Noviembre - who and why - you will know hopefully tomorrow.
