Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto Update / Analysis / Prediction / Result

Pacquiao vs Cotto Fight Update, Analysis, Prediction, and Result of the most anticipated fight of the year (or the last half of the year) is here...

Pacquiao vs Cotto was tentatively called "Power Surge" (this reminds people of Systems Losses). Others in Pacland have great titles like: Pacquiao vs Cotto The Real One (real number one that is), Pacquiao vs Cotto Thunder in November (MEG) and Pacquiao vs Cotto Top Dogs (seniorchief). Or the old title a Paclander gave Pac's previous fight "Never Back Down". Well, Bob Arum and his staff has came up with a much better title "Fire Power" than what they previously floated around. It means expect fireworks or explosions come fight night.

So who's going to win Pacquiao vs Cotto? After spectacular victories over the bigger Oscar De La Hoya and the former 140 pound king (some English dude who fell like Michael Bisping last May), made him a clear favorite in the fight for most fans -- forget those wannabe experts. Why will Pacquiao win the fight? First, his speed. Pacquiao was so fast he made Oscar De La Hoya, David Diaz, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera look like punching bags. But speed without direction is useless and that's where Team Pacquiao comes in. Yes, the boxer, the trainer and his assistants form a Team - a bitter Brit in Bangkok doesn't understand that. The biggest asset to Team Pacquiao is Coach Freddie Roach. His strategies are effective and Cotto doesn't have that ---- a top caliber coach yet (as of July). In addition, Pacquiao has power in BOTH HANDS now as he showed against that Englishman and has developed patience - no more careless all out attack which is suicide against Cotto.

Some say Miguel Cotto is a tune up for Floyd Mayweather or he is just a tailor made fighter for Pac. I disagree -- a match up with Miguel Cotto is a fight in itself. One of the world's top pound for pound boxers he doesn't deserve to be disrespected. He is also a gentleman and will talk trash when necessary but a warrior in the ring. Obviously, Miguel Cotto is bigger than Pacquiao (HBO Commentary team can attest to that). Pacquiao only reached 148 lbs maximum in fight night against that Englishman last May and come fight night Cotto might go as high as 154 lbs (from 145 lb catchweight). The Puerto Rican has sheer size advantage. It remains to be seen whether Pacquiao can take a punch of a legitimate Welterweight. As I've said before Miguel Cotto is also one of the best body punchers in the boxing business and inflicted some incredible body shot knockouts in his career. However, close examination shows Miguel Cotto's punching power fizzles out against top opponents - Malignaggi (as jr. welter), Margarito, Mosley and Clottey survived the Puerto Rican. Besides, Cotto was so slow in his last match against Clottey I can't believe the Ghanian his beating him to the punch! He is getting a dose of his own medicine. Clottey didn't throw enough punches in that fight though and he lost.

A Ring Magazine writer said if Pacquiao wins against Cotto there'll be no question and the Filipino effectively cements his legacy. This guy is naive. As I've said before, you can find a loophole in a boxer you don't like. But I agree with him Cotto is the toughest boxer Manny Pacquiao has faced so far in his career and Freddie Roach has set up an eight-week training camp to put his ward into fighting shape.

Pacquiao vs Cotto is a non-title fight as the latter won't stake his crowns despite that the match is generating more buzz than Mayweather vs Marquez. Fight fans expect a war and most likely they will get it - this is the drawing power of Pacquiao vs Cotto.

------------

Update:

It is now a title fight after an uproar from Pacquiao's fans forced Arum to reconsider. Cotto's welterweight titles are now at stake.

Manny Pacquiao Is Overrated Part 2 So Says Noobs

Funny, while most boxing legends like Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Sugar Ray Leonard are heaping praises to the Pound for Pound King boxing noobs still say Manny Pacquiao is overrated. There is a vast chasm between those who know the tough sport of boxing thru ring experience and those who know nothing about the sport but owns websites. It seems Pacfans know their boxing after all LOL.

Buster Douglas Giving Manny Pacquiao A Shout Out

Accolades just come for the guy:
Greatest Southpaw
Greatest Boxer under 147 lbs
Greatest Asian Boxer

These accolades only arouse jealous from certain types of people. No Mexican boxing hack (I refer to the bias ones) or British one (those whose eyes are closed) can ever diminish the accomplishments of our champ. At the end of the day, nobody remembers critics LOL. If anything, they only embarrass themselves for showing their ignorance. The damage Pacquiao done to the psyche of some Mexican writers ARE unbearable that they still hold a grudge against him. There are decent Mexican boxing writers but they far outnumbered by incompetent ones. Haha...I wonder how they felt when some people name him the greatest.

On the other hand, he doesn't even need their praises anyway after earning $ 40 million last year and getting his second BWAA Fighter of the Year award. I think Manny is just happy impressing the fight fans -- and they deliver giving him 850,000 PPV buys in his last fight!

Yeah, most criticisms against Pacquiao are RACIALLY MOTIVATED. The best fighter in the world is ASIAN, live with it.

Manny Pacquiao In Star Trek as Spock

Manny Pacquiao is back! Yes, after his stint as Edward Cullen he is now in the blockbuster hit movie "Star Trek" as Spock beating Leonard Nimoy for the role. Zachary Quinto is no match to Manny Pacquiao too as he literally floored the director when the latter donned his costume.

"You fit the role of Spock!!!", cried J.J. Abrams - the film's director.

"I know...you know?",replied the boxing star

"The resemblance of Spock fits you to a T. Just what have you done to look like this? Amazing.....", asked the director

"I drink Vitwater you know?"

Disclaimer: Just a joke.

Pacland's Creativity / Pacquiao & The Mexicans

Manny Pacquiao and the Mexicans left after his attack. When it comes to Manny Pacquiao some ethnic Mexican writers throw away objectivity, logic and common sense just to have something to say LOL. Why? The picture tells us WHY! Oh my Gosh!!! The PACMAN STORM!!!

How many times do I have to clarify? For me, it's not personal and Pacquiao doesn't like the Mexicutioneer tag. Some Mexican-American writers do have a problem with him. LOL. If you remove the bias, you will see how great a fighter Manny is. Some people need to grow up. Some of them are no better than brats when writing I wonder what's their day job.

Pacquiao vs Hatton: Aftermath & Jokes

Jokes galore after the Pacquiao vs Hatton mostly at Ricky Hatton's expense!
Here are samples:

What's the difference between a £20 note and Ricky Hatton?
The £20 note will last more than 2 rounds!

Ricky Hatton's girlfriend was heard to say, "I don't know what the problem is, It makes a nice change for him to last for four minutes".

I want a girlfriend like Ricky Hatton.
Doesn’t mind taking it in the face and once she goes down she stays down.

By the way, Hatton's English fans made the joke themselves (credits mykel_schu_maker @ Philboxing)

Ricky Hatton himself made a joke (unintentional one though)"If we’d have gone a few rounds it could have been different."

Here is a breakdown of Ricky Hatton defense according to a fan in Youtube:

Pretty good explanation

Yup, it was a great fight and I'm looking forward to another one. Most likely, Pacquiao will face Miguel Cotto later this year. Wow! I will write a post about that.

William Wallace won his fight against the Englishman.

More Pacquiao vs Hatton Post Fight Analysis Who's To Blame For Ricky Hatton's Defeat?

Pacquiao vs Hatton Post Fight Analysis: Ricky Hatton and disgraced boxing trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. are having a very ugly public fight one that resembles two fish vendors quarreling. Both men are in denial refusing to take responsibility for the loss. Frankly speaking, if anyone's to blame its Manny Pacquiao as he is too good for this Ricky Hatton. It is simple the Brit can't win what he can't hit. Pacquiao was so fast Hatton could barely hit him. On the other hand, Manny Pacquiao was turning Hatton's face into a dart board - a moving target so to speak.

The only thing Hatton got trained for this match was his mouth. Floyd Mayweather almost honed it to perfection. It seems Manny Pacquiao took note of it as he landed his left in the Englishman's jaw as if the Pound for Pound King was trying to shut him up. He did. Now Hatton is left making excuses for himself LOL - that's the way they do things in England. When they lose excuses galore, I've experienced this many times. For example, when England lost to Brazil in 2002 World Cup quarterfinals 1 - 0, some metrosexual English player said Ronaldinho's goal was a fluke in an effort to belittle the win. The talented Brazilian then distinguished himself from that hyped player by leading his country to World Cup title. All the sourgraping in the world didn't change the fact Brazil was World Champions in 2002. Back to Pacquiao vs Hatton, I don't think even with a sound strategy Hatton could beat Pacquiao. Modesty aside, all strategy in the world is useless when you can't hit your opponent.

Excellent fight plan, exacting training regimen, world class coaching, talent, and most importantly faith in God won the day for Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao has always faced world-class opponents in whatever division he is.

I still can't get enough of Pacquiao vs Hatton match last Sunday and I think I've seen the replays like 30 times and still counting. I didn't expect Ricky Hatton to fall in the first round I gave him more credit than that. But I was happy anyway. When Pacquiao scored his second knockdown I'm hoping Hatton won't get back up for his safety and thereby ensuring Manny's victory. But the Mancunian was stubborn and got pummeled in the end.

Pacquiao vs Hatton Post Fight Analysis: Welcome To Pacman Wonderland

Busting the Pacquiao vs Hatton assertions

assertion 1: Hatton is bigger than Pacquiao. Hatton boasts of this fact a lot.
reality: no bearing in the fight as speed killed the Mancunian braggart

assertion 2: Pacquiao has no Power
reality: Yup De La Hoya made Ricky Hatton believe that but Manny Pacquiao's left violently DISAGREED

assertion 3: Hatton: Pacquiao's victory over De La Hoya a fluke
reality: again Pacquiao's left and right disagreed and won the argument

assertion 4: can't teach old dogs new tricks
reality: in Hatton's case true!

assertion 5: Hatton: Pacquiao Gone in Sixty Seconds
reality: Hatton gone in Two

Heard / Read on the Internet

"Put some blanket on Hatton" fan watching a feed in Manila gym

"Welcome to Pacman Wonderland" youtube pacfan

Ricky Hatton is now looking for excuses...face your defeat like a man Ricky!

Update: Ricky believed the BS De La Hoya told him. In fact Hatton was only to happy to echo the words of the "black and blue boy". So he got a rude reality check. Fox News described Hatton as"overrated" whether its true or not its your call. Manny Pacquiao destroyed most assumptions against him. In fact I'm happy if they keep on underestimating him as a post in Philboxing forum summed it up:

If you look past Manny you will not see his left, learn some Humility Ricky -dranex

Simply put Manny is a better boxer than Ricky Hatton. His hands have power and he sticks to the game plan. Pacquiao has a great ability to implement a sound strategy perfectly. Finally, Manny Pacquiao has ring intelligence something that most people don't think he has. Manny can adjust his plan of attack if situations in the ring requires it. When Manny attacked Hatton furiously in the 2nd round, he couldn't KO the Englishman so he calmed down and boxed...Ricky Hatton didn't notice the change. He charged in --- but Pacman's left welcomed him and it was GAME OVER. Unlike Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao's change of boxing style happened gradually and we can see it.

Poems for Floyd Mayweather Sr

wahoopunk from espn

Floyd Joy Mayweather here, just in time
To lay down another putrid rhyme.
I told the whole world I was the all-time best
The best at ensuring my fighters flunk their test.

I'm such an annoying twit that even my own son
Got sick of my routine and told me to be gone.
I said I'd teach my fighter some skills, to stick and move
And I kept my word -- he's mastered the horizontal groove.

I insulted the opposing trainer and said his fighter was made of glass
But my fighter's fiercest attribute turned out to be his thong-clad a.s.s.
The highlight of our training camp was ordering from Taco Bell
But now it's over and I'll spend an eternity in humbling hell.

Pacquiao vs Hatton: Giving Credit To Where It Is Due

I would like to dedicate this post to the Great One - The Greatest Pound For Pound Being in the Universe. Yes, I dedicate this to Him. Thank you for giving strength to MP last Sunday. Thank you for giving him the Victory. Yes I know with You nothing is impossible. Thank you for your gift to the Filipino people. It is very much appreciated esp. by our masses. All Glory is Yours as it is YOUR POWER who made it possible. It is quite obvious Manny can't do anything on his own power alone - training can only do so much. He needs You as much as I need You. All Glory and Honor belongs to You...Thank you very much in behalf of a very grateful people. Don't forget us.

Pacquiao vs Hatton Result / Pacquiao Disposes Hatton In Two

Pacquiao vs Hatton result is Pacquiao destroying Hatton in Two Rounds. Yes, two rounds---- better than what Coach Freddie Roach predicted. In the first round alone Pacquiao dropped Hatton twice shutting up the English's noisy fans and trainer. But Ricky Hatton got up and tried some dirty tricks...didn't work as Manny Pacquiao was too fast and smart to get trapped. The second round started with Hatton reverting to his old style --- attacking Pacquiao recklessly. The Filipino was very much prepared. A massive left from Pacquiao hit Hatton in the jackpot (chin) and the Englishman fell like the London Bridge. It turns out if you brawl with Manny Pacquiao you kiss the canvass -- but warnings from Pacquiao camp were ignored by Hatton's.

Basically, I saw an old Hatton and with that style you cannot win against Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao punished him with shots the Englishman never expected. Pacquiao's left shook Hatton's entire body and his legs gave way...that's the power.

I didn't thought the fight would end so swiftly like this! Never ever have I imagined this. Great fight Manny! Thank you Lord for giving Manny the strength to win this fight.

Pacquiao vs Hatton Result: Manny KO2 Hatton:

All the foolishness Hatton and Hatton's camp uttered came back to haunt them. All the racist attacks the some Brits threw against Manny backfired. Serves them right.

Pacquiao vs Hatton Second Fight Update: Team Hatton Full of Brats

Pacquiao vs Hatton Second Fight Update: Boxingconfidential writer Michael Marley was banned by immature and childish members of Team Hatton today. The American writer was refused press credential from Ricky's camp approved by the Golden Boy himself. Talk about childish. It seems someone in Team Hatton's camp is still mad at Marley for his wisecracks against the Englishman. The article with sub-headline "No BEARD all moustache" probably nailed it. Michael Marley just wanted to put some guy in Team Hatton's camp in his proper place but it seems he took it personally. Poor sport. There are many English writers spewing trash on Manny with some article bordering on racism (typical) but none were refused press crediential.

Pacfans are childish? Nah Team Hatton is full of BRATS.

In another news, Dave Batista (WWE) wrestler will carry one of Pacquiao's belts.

Note to British Press: No Pacquiao's dad didn't eat his dog. Check your sources first nitwits. They didn't even ask Manny about it. It was Times Online who bothered to check the details and refuted the malicious rumor against Manny perpetuated by lazy British reporters.

About De La Hoya still dishing out that Manny should've knock him out cold. Manny Pacquiao would've done that but OSCAR QUIT. Quitter. But it goes in the records as TKO victory for Manny. For Oscar, it means Technical KNOCK OUT.

Pacquiao vs Hatton: Fight Update and News (HBO & Sky Box Office)

For historical purposes, I decided to collect some necessary info regarding the Pacquiao vs Hatton fight on May 2, 2009 (May 3 in our country). Pacquiao vs Hatton fight is lamely called "Battle of East and West". A Paclander's proposal to call the match "Never Back Down" is much cooler and more apt considering the style and temperament of the boxers. Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton just won't back down - on anyone.

Pacland Owns Hatton; Pacfans More Classy

Since Hatton has been busy dishing out nonsense lately and Paclanders or the people of Philboxing.com have taken the cudgel for their idol.

Hatton: I AM TOO BIG FOR YOU MANNY

Bob colins:
"Hatton is right he is bigger than Pac. May 2 as follows:
will be bigger in damages
will be bigger in bleeding
will be bigger in swollen face
will be bigger in head pains
will be bigger in rolling the canvass"

Chiktoferken:
"But PAC has the bigger heart
"

If you want to see more pawnage visit philboxing.com. I can't reprint them all...

------------------------------------------
-

The fight is at 140lbs and Hatton plans to add up to 14 - 16 lbs - a suicide if you will. No knowledgeable boxing fan will believe that. Ten pounds or less is the ideal weight to gain come fight night unless of course Hatton wants to do a De La Hoya meaning become another punching bag. They are not fooling anyone with that.

By the way, Hatton talks too much. I think it is a sign of insecurity. If boxing was a talking contest, Hatton should've won against Mayweather - too bad it is NOT. On second thought, Hatton will win only on the number of words wasted since most of Mayweather's barbs are on target!

Every boxer save for the loonies have plans every time they box. Once they get hit, it will take a lot of discipline not to deviate from it.

Pacfans are definitely more classy than this certain guy. They don't boo the US National Anthem while in the US - that act is disgusting. Pacquiao's fans know how to respect their host.

Pacquiao vs Hatton Fight Quotes; Manny-chester, Pacquiao as William Wallace

These are quotes related to the upcoming Pacquiao vs Hatton showdown in Las Vegas this May.

"I am also a fan of Ricky, but Manny will kill him" - Batista

"I like Ricky because he has been very friendly since I came to England - on Saturday he even took me down to his local pub for a game of darts. But when we are in the ring, we will become different people. We will turn into warriors - nobody can help you in there when you are hurt and you need time out.I still have the hunger because I can remember what it was like when we could only afford to eat once a day and I was sleeping on the street. And I can remember the purse from my first fight was the equivalent of half an English pound: I gave it to my mother to help her buy our food.Every time I step into the ring, I am representing my people and give them inspiration by showing how Manny Pacquiao went from nothing to something." Pacquiao

"When I get in the ring I am fighting for these people. I represent them. Every fight I dedicate to my people" - Pacquiao

"North, South, East and West, this will be no contest.” Floyd Sr

"Now, I solved my fight & won and I will wait for the result of the fight between Hatton & Pacquiao…but I prefer to fight Manny Pacquiao…. Now, I can move on to 140 lbs. and fight either Ricky Hatton or Manny Pacquiao" - Juan Manuel Marquez to Philboxing.com

"Manny will get to him in the later rounds and will knock him out at some point" - Roach

“I’ve been trying to get a third fight with Manny Pacquiao," he would say through Gomez. "But he doesn't want to fight me. So if he's not going to fight me than I'm calling out the very best - that's Floyd Mayweather. Who wouldn't want to see that fight? I'll fight him at 140, maybe a little bit above that. I want to fight the very best. " - JMM

"If anybody thinks FreddieJoke CoachRoach can do a better job than me they must be sick" Floyd Sr.

"It's a shame, Senior is not in the Hall of Fame" Roach

"Hatton is bigger than I am but this isn’t about big. It’s about punching hard and being effective." Pacquiao

Winning Pacquiao quote so far:

"It shouldn't be called Manchester; it should be called Manny-chester." Pacquiao

"I’m William Wallace, my middle name is Burns, and I am going to fight for Freedom against an Englishman.” Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao: Fourteen Years of Boxing

Manny Pacquiao - the Destroyer from the Philippines - debuted as a boxing professional this day fourteen years ago (January 22, 1995) in Mindoro Occidental, Philippines. He reportedly won his first fight on points against a certain Edmund "Enting" Ignacio. Manny scored his first knock out (Round 2) against Dele Decierto seven months later. Manny Pacquiao made a name for himself in the local scene by stringing up several knockout victories. His reputation grew and as a testament, his fights are filled with people despite the fact local professional boxing was and is still not big here.

Who would have thought that the local knock out artist would later become The King of Boxing and the Best Pound for Pound Warrior in the World? Nobody did. The country has produced several great boxers including PANCHO VILLA - the Greatest Flyweight of the Century, and Gabriel "Flash" Elorde - the Greatest Asian Boxer of all time. Now in my life time, I was fortunate to witness another great. Manny Pacquiao won five titles in five weight divisions. He jumped up two weight classes and fought a BIG BULLY. The BULLY thought he was easy picking. For eight rounds, Manny "smoked" the BULLY into submission. It was not just any BULLY. Months before 99% of Boxing pundits predicted Manny would lose. But Manny Pacquiao shocked the world. Not since Henry Armstrong was another Boxer winning three weight divisions in one year. Manny Pacquiao was then showered with flattery by those posers however the reality says HE IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD, right now. Pacquiao exposed many boxing experts as rubbish. Their BANDWAGON ANALYSIS was incorrect.

To his credit though, Manny Pacquiao doesn't care about the Pound for Pound Titles and other shenanigans hot-air filled experts come up with. He only wants to please the Filipino people - and shows it in the ring. I can't recall a single Manny Pacquiao fight that was boring. His devotion to his country was deciphered by many as sincere so his following became large and devoted - they became known as PACFANS. To take advantage of his following, notorious sports sites flame the place where Pacquiao fans congregate - Pacland in an effort to get thousands of hits in five minutes. It worked initially but after that PACFANS learn to avoid glorified bloggers - and there's no turning back. Good sites know not to overdo it. Nah...just like any successful person Manny Pacquiao has his share of critics but he and I don't care.

There is a possibility 2009 will be Manny Pacquiao's last year in boxing. Yes, I think Manny will retire only after beating the best there is available and as long as they give him due respect. After fourteen years of boxing, the toll on Manny's body must be severe and if he calls it quits fine by me. Manny Pacquiao is the greatest sporting hero I've seen in my lifetime. I've never seen a Filipino athlete winning consistency and thrives on pressure. Manny does that. Even the great Efren "Bata" Reyes of billiards has collapsed on clutch moments. Manny also wins regularly and dislikes losing unlike other athletes here. His belief in himself is extraordinary and his confidence supreme. He fights to win - and that's what I admire in him.

Yes, Manny Pacquiao has his misgivings too but mostly it is outside the ring as far as I'm concerned. I really don't want him to enter politics. Contrary to popular propaganda, Manny Pacquiao will not win if he runs for the Presidency. He will not. The Filipino people are smart. Other fans prefer Pacquiao to concentrate on developing and promoting boxing prospects - after all he opened the gate for them. He might as well keep it open by developing fighters to follow his foot steps. I think it is a better legacy - but that's his choice and I respect that. I think he will run for political office and at the same time promote other fighters.

In his latest squabble, Manny proved he is tough outside the ring as well. He was pressured by many to sign that insulting contract. Manny Pacquiao instead played hardball and the other camp realized he is serious - they blinked. But their concession isn't big enough - He dumped the fight. His actions earned the respect of knowledgeable boxing writers. He is his own man. Manny Pacquiao knows what's best for him. He decides what happens next - not his father or promoter. Pacman worked hard to get to the top and he has no time to deal with squirts. He knows his value and he will not be shortchanged.

Update:

From initial 50 - 50 offer, Manny's opponent blinked and gave in to 52 -48. The final offer was reportedly 52 - 48 in favor of the Filipino plus 12 million dollars guaranteed prize money. Not bad.

Is Manny Pacquiao Overrated?

Manny Pacquiao is Overrated. So says some blogger. Are you even a boxing fan? Don't discount a person's ability because you hate them or hate their race. Nah...Need I explain? If you are a boxing fan, there's no need. Just as there are superstar boxers and bums, there are boxing experts and EGGPERTS. The term Overrated is easily dished out by people convinced of their expertise nowadays. Nah...Maybe it's a desperate attempt to smack some hits.

Future Hall of Famers Manny Pacquiao Defeated:

Marco Antonio Barrera - TKO, UD the only TKO defeat in his historic career

Erik Morales - Loss, KO, KO same as the above (only KO loss in his career)

Juan Manuel Marquez- D, SD went down four times against Pacquiao

Oscar De La Hoya - TKO never been pummeled for eight straight rounds - not by Hopkins nor Mayweather - jumped up two weight divisions and shocked 99% of boxing know-it-alls and experts
in the process.

I mean if you think otherwise, you don't know boxing. Man, there are so many wannabe experts out there. I'm just a fan but the facts above speak volumes to what the man has achieved - facts is superior to some guy's opinion. Facts present the truth and not some interpretation skewed by bias. Some boxing "experts" remind of lawyers - if given the chance they will twist the facts.

The only thing OVERRATED here is the UK PPV sales.

Update:
Manny Pacquiao is now a six-weight division world champion and four-time lineal world champion. The facts don't lie when his newest victim was a guy previous unbeaten in his division. Manny went to that division and inflicted that guy's first loss - in humiliating fashion. Manny Pacquiao is overrated...dream on. It is safe to say that on the internet where one's real identity could be hidden. Say that in public and you will sound like an ------.

Reality Check! Hatton Not As MARKETABLE As He Thinks He Is

Quinito Henson bared in today's issue of the Philippine Star that Hatton is NOT marketable as HE thinks HE IS. The Hard Truth is THE GUY'S MARKETABILITY very much depends on his opponent. Yes, you may say it happens to Manny too...but Pacquiao still gets 300,000 buys on the average but against Paulie Malignaggi, Ricky Hatton got between 175,000 to 200,000 in the US. Even in the UK, Hatton's fight earned little than expected.

THE PLAIN TRUTHS

Ricky Hatton's marketability depends upon his opponents. He can't get past 300,000 buys in US PPV.

Manny Pacquiao earned many people's respect when he turned down Arum's proposal. Arum made it look like Pacquiao is just going to blindly follow what he is saying. Manny Pacquiao is his own man.

Man, I got carried away with this issue. Even today, I'm still looking for updates. As much as I want this fight this continue, I don't want it to happen if it puts Manny Pacquiao at a disadvantage. It's his life on the line every time he fights.

More Pacquiao vs Hatton; Give Manny His Due Respect!!!

The hullaboo in the negotiations for the Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton fight isn't over. Many thought Arum has successfully convinced Pacquiao to accept the deal but last night Manny Pacquiao told the press - it's 60-40 or Hatton can find a new opponent (Who could generate this much cash for him? Good luck with that Ricky!).The proud British won't accept it thinking the world revolves around UK PPV. What about the rest of the world? The non-British fans who know Manny, what about them?

Bob Arum negotiated with Hatton's people and fought to get the UK Pay-per-view rights something which Mayweather reportedly didn't take (it is now clarified that Mayweather got all US PPV share!). I don't know what's with Arum recently instead of working for a better deal with Manny; he got stuck with 50-50. He seems not very enthusiastic pushing for his ward to get a much bigger share. I wonder why when it is obvious Manny Pacquiao has the leverage here. Yes, you hear know-it-all boxing columnists making noises again and most of them are the ones Manny Pacquiao OWNED last December. To be honest, it was Hatton who made it appear he is the next opponent for Pacquiao when the Filipino has many fighters to choose from.

By the way, Manny said anything but 50-50 and not necessarily a 60-40 split - in favor of him of course. Manny wants respect! There are people who accuse him of being greedy. If Manny was greedy, he could've accepted this fight early on. With his statements, there is a possibility this match won't continue. Manny is willing to risk that something a "greedy" person wouldn't do. Branding Manny as greedy is the last resort of some psychologically challenged people who couldn't find anything to throw at the pound-for-pound king anymore. Boxing is a profession. Manny joined it as a source of living. All people in the planet are entitled to pursue what they think is best for them esp if the records show they are entitled to it and not just some personal observation. I don't know why some people are upright about this issue and project a "holier than thou" attitude in the controversy when this is just part of the negotiation process. Grow UP!

"If it’s 50-50, forget about it (the fight)," said Pacquiao, sounding bitter that nobody’s paying attention to his standing as the flag-bearer of the sport.

"Oras na tanggapin ko ang offer na ‘yan, masyado ko namang pabababain ang aking sarili. Nag-paubaya na ako when I fought Oscar De La Hoya last year kaya this time ako naman ang humihiling sa kanila," Pacquiao told the Bulletin yesterday." Manny Pacquiao told Manila Bulletin.

Manny is correct. He deserves more than 50% of the purse.

Pacquiao Per Per View Performance

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya: 1,250,000

Pacquiao vs Marquez II: 405,000

Pacquiao vs Morales I: 340,000

Pacquiao vs Morales II:350,000

Pacquiao vs Barrera II: 200,000

Pacquiao vs Diaz: 250,000

Hatton vs Mayweather: 850,000 (US figures) Result: Loss via Knockout

Hatton vs Malignaggi: 125,000 to 250,000

Numbers don't lie. Who's the bigger draw?

Seven vs Two PPV fights?

Hatton only performed twice in US PPV and he got knocked out in one. Manny Pacquiao as a testament to his popularity has seven PPV fights. In my book, he has every right to ask for more. The guy who was blasted in his first and only PPV fight gets half against a consistent and proven PPV King? Some say "Well Hatton is the champion! He deserves 50-50." Yes, he is the champion of some alphabet boxing organization called IBO. Experts suggested giving a 60-40 split in favor of Hatton for the UK PPV and 60-40 to Manny for the Rest of the World. Yes, Manny is known worldwide now. With such a strong leverage, I can't believe Arum immediately agreed to a 50 - 50 split. What I'm wondering now is instead of backing his fighter up, Bob agreed with Golden Boy Promotions. Gee, what gives? Manny saved Arum's *** months ago after his favorite fighter Kelly Pavlik got schooled. By the way, I hope Margarito loses so Bob will realize who his prize fighter really is.

Manny Pacquiao will not back down on this one.

Update:

Manny Pacquiao rejected a 52 - 48 offer from Hatton insisting it's either 55 - 45 or no deal. "You see they changed their minds." Manny reportedly said. It seems to me the Hatton camp knows who the REAL DRAW is. I wonder why they are so proud of the UK PPV sales against Mayweather when the end result was a humiliating knockout!

Who cares what Arum says? It is Manny's body on the line every time he fights and Marley of BC is right - a boxer's career is short unlike these promoters who last longer than Methuselah. Manny Pacquiao has to look out for himself and ensure he gets the best on offer even if his "manager" doesn't want to do it. It turns out Manny is much smarter than Arum - Pacquiao knows his value. He will not sell himself short just to appease anyone nor flip-flops when pressured. The man is the same in and out of the ring.

Latest Update:

Manny Pacquiao got what he wanted (better than 50 - 50) 52 -48 split plus $ 13 million according to Philippine Star. The choices he was given was:

a. 52 - 48 $13 million

b.55 - 45 $12 million

Hatton's offer was 52-48, $ 12m...

Arum sweetened the pot. English newspapers report otherwise which is normal since they would like to print what they want to believe. Neutral American newspapers such as Los Angeles Times floats a 52 -48 split.
