What I thought then was angelic and conservative girl Nina Jose lands her first Maxim Philippines cover girl stint for the month of February, 2009 - a good way to start the love month. I first saw Nina Jose in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition a while back since my brother was a big fan of the show. Her demeanor in the show projected traditional outlook in life. Nina Jose was reportedly called "The Giant" by male housemates as she stands 5-8 barefoot!
Nina Jose joined her fellow PBB Teen Edition friends in the ABS-CBN show called "My Girl". She's under Regal Entertainment and has an eight picture contract with the company. It seems Maxim Philippines wants to end 2008 with a bang by featuring Cristine Reyes in its December issue. She has been a staple of some magazines and if you've seen her you won't have to wonder why. Cristine Reyes will be very busy come December as she will reportedly topbill a new TV series called "Eva Fonda" in ABS-CBN. Good luck to her. This will be the first time she appears as cover girl of Maxim.
I first saw Cristine Reyes back in Starstruck. In the show, she didn't reveal any showbiz connection and was the first one to be booted out. It was only later she divulged that she was Ara Mina's sister. I never heard anything from Cristine again until she became FHM's cover girl last year. It was reportedly her first for a men's magazine. Ms. Reyes was initially hesitant but with the encouragement of her sister, she managed to pull it off(?).

Yes,Korean Women skirts are getting shorter. But why did it make the news anyway? I almost fell off my chair when I first read the news item. Yes, Korean women hanging around here do wear shorter skirts than the rest of the native female population and I often wonder how they are looked upon in their country which has a reputation of being conservative. Also, I wondered if they wear very short skirts in Korea too when their parents could see them. It turns out they do too. Korean women in very short skirts made a strong impact it made the news inChosunilbo.
Miniskirts Get Even Shorter Miniskirts which are so short that passersby feel embarrassed just to see them are hitting the street in Korea in the spring season of 2006. They are not just mini. They are super-miniskirts with their total length less than 25 cm. Such super-miniskirts, which got some 10 cm shorter from 10 years ago, are selling like hot cakes, some 2,500-3,000 units on average a day in G-Market, a local online shopping mall, and Auction, the trading site. They account for some 30 percent of women’s clothes sold. “Miniskirts have been here all the time, but this year it seems they reached the point where they can’t get any shorter,” a buyer of women’s clothes at Hyundai Department Store said. “Just several years ago, only those with long, beautiful legs wore such miniskirts, but these days they have become so popular that almost everyone wears them.”
“In a situation where the nation’s share prices and the number of people living in poverty increase at the same time, the popularity of super-miniskirts has little to do with the economic situation and more to do with celebrities who wear such short skirts and appear on TV,” says Prof. Lee Yun-jung of Gyeongin National University of Education. The time when the Dongdaemun Market and online shopping malls overflow with super-miniskirts and hot pants coincides with a time when female stars like Lee Hyo-lee, Ko So-young and Kim Tae-hee appear in front of the public wearing such garments.
It is still true today at least to some Korean women I see here. Their specialty is either very short skirt or short shorts. Not that I'm picking them out - it is just that most women here don't wear skirts THAT SHORT. The professor is right - Korean women are emulating their favorite stars - and they will stick to it especially if it looks good on them. Actually skirts do make the women look more feminine.

Short skirts probably add more confidence to some Korean women. Why not esp. if they can handle it well?
I don't know what I'm going to say. I'm not going to lecture if that's what you're thinking. Besides, I have no right to, try as I might. I sure hope when these Korean women wear their short skirts they know how to sit properly or don't have scars littered all over their legs.

There's a war out there! It is a very brutal war - and its going on world wide. Is it World War Three? No, worse it is more like the battle between fans of two of the most popular Korean girl bands - Wonder Girls and Girls Generation. Whenever I visit Youtube or other discussion forums the respective groups fangirls and fanboys attack each other silly. I just can't help but notice for I can't believe their fans' fanaticism. This is not good natured teasing but hardcore hatred! It was reported the fighting was so bad forum moderators had to close the two girl groups discussion boards on Soompi.com.

During the opening of the concert, approximately 20 fans were injured and rushed to the hospital. The injuries occurred as fan clubs were fighting over their idols as well as for seats.
To make matters worse, while Girls' Generation performed for a duration of 10 minutes, all of the male idol group fan clubs turned off their glow sticks, as well as "boo-ed" the girls.
To be fair to the two groups, fans of other groups got in the act too. Of course, the respective groups would definitely defend their fans. The Wonder Girls stated, "If the fans are true music lovers, we wish they would just love music and get along with each other." In addition, "We are really thankful to our fans, the Wonderfuls. Although they too were involved with the incident at the Dream Concert, compared to other fan clubs they were a lot milder and gentler.
See the reactions from fans below (in the discussion), get my drift? If Emimem's fans and Ja Rule get it on I would understand it BUT NOT GIRL BANDS. I find it amusing, strange and sad. To think, the girls represent some sort of clean fun and joy. Their fans apparently don't get what the two girl groups represent.
This is not strictly a Korean phenomenon although physical fighting among pop group fans is nonexistent in other nations - it is usually fans of other music genre like rock and hiphop who cause mayhem. In the U.S. and Mexico, emo devotees are the target of violence by fans of metal and punk rock (see EMO wars).
The Japanese don't have girl power bands such as these (and no violence too). I think it is completely a Korean domain - and they attract followers Koreans and non-Koreans alike. I reckon there are many pretty Korean ladies to fill even more girl bands (recently a new group was launched) but every time I say that someone would post - it must be plastic surgery. I cannot disagree but not all of them - they are more than you think.

To be brutally frank about it, I like the Wonder Girls more. I marvel at Korea's ability to come up with many female idol groups and having real beauties in it too.
One of the simple joys that I have is watching cute girls dancing (wholesome manner of course I respect women). Thanks to the so-called Korean “wave” I got treated to one. Meet the Wonder Girls with their single “Tell Me”. What can I say? They dance gracefully and one of the girls is really cute (the one with glasses on the first scene). Their song is really catchy and their dance moves funky – they created a storm in their country (2007) akin to what Sean Kingston and Soulja Boy tracks did to our country last year. For some, the girls’ dance moves are too sexy but for me I’ve seen sexier and it looks tame to me (what’s with those people?).
Korea girl group, Wonder Girls has been creating a buzz lately in Korea with their pop song, “Tell Me” and seen lots of rave reviews being created about it. The opening of the dance which sees them swaying their shoulders and then moving their arms in V-shape style was conceptualised respectively by Sun Mi and Ye Eun. The “Tell Me” dance looks simple but when you actually do it, you would find it difficult to coordinate your arms and legs together. And to prove how big of a hit it is with people, just do a search for “Wonder Girls Tell Me” on Youtube and you can see all sort of people imitating it. My lonely eyes lit up the first time I saw her in the drama My Boss, My Hero (writing on a quill makes one romantic) – Yui Aragaki - the Japanese superstar. I fell for her character Umemura Hikari for she suited my type of woman – sweet, smart but tough. Was it love at first sight? Not exactly more like infatuation on the first eight episodes. Why was it that the more I watch her, the cuter she gets? (rhetorical question please don’t answer) In the last episode, she became even more beautiful with her long hair and that innocent, flirtatious smile (is there such a thing or is it just an oxymoron?). I know I must share this or I’ll explode (or fart whichever is realistic).
Unfortunately, the kimchi girl with rabbit teeth still won as far as my heart is concerned but I still admire Yui-chan still. It is probably because I haven’t gotten over her character Hikari and when I see her playing other roles I don’t like it.
I can't seem to get Ariel Lin out of my mind lately. I mean I only saw her five times in It Started With A Kiss - the Taiwanese drama last year but its only this year she made an impact on me. I wonder why? She's cute I admit it. Everytime I see her she reminds me of PGMA...lol. But this Taiwanese lass is definitely cute...
Come to think of it, with the exception of Esther Liu, Ariel Lin is the only Taiwanese actress I could consider a beauty so far. I wonder if there's a shortage of beautiful Taiwanese women. Nah...I don't think so.
Ariel Lin might be cute but her character in It Started With A Kiss is a huge turn off. Her character is obsessed with this emotionless and frigid guy but she keeps coming back despite the humiliation and the setbacks she is receiving. Tsk.
