Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result: All Violence In The Ring

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. 38 (29) - 0 - 1 of Mexico defeated Luciano Leonel Cuello 23 (10) - 0 of Argentina via unanimous decision to win the WBO Latino Light Middleweight Championship in Plaza de Toros, Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico

Chavez vs Cuello is the fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. wants to win badly to prove he's par with the big boys as critics are unconvinced of him, alleging his career is being artificially boosted with cherry-picked bum opponents. Reports of Mexico is fast becoming a failed state scared off many American boxing scribes and fans from going to Tijuana. The fight made headlines initially for the wrong reasons, Chavez's promoter Bob Arum defended Tijuana and his decision to stage the fight there. Thankfully, all the violence happened in the ring not outside of it.

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 1
Round starts slowly then Chavez began peppering Cuello with well-placed body shots. Cuello hits Chavez that momentarily stunned Jr. Still Chavez recovers and connects with more shots.

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 2
Cuello stalks Chavez but Jr. traps him and unloads more shots and combos. Cuello escapes and continues to aggressively move forward but he looks tired.

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 3
Cuello corners Chavez and connects with a left and right body shots.

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 4
Cuello gains confidence and launches an offensive...Chavez looks clueless. Cuello connects a variety of punches...lead jabs are effective. Chavez wakes up and retaliates but it's too late.

39 - 37 in all judges after Round 4 official scorecards

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 5
Chavez changes gameplan - maintaining safe distance and jabbing. He catches Cuello with several combos and body shots.

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 6
Chavez continues to dominate Cuello with combos and well-placed body shots. Chavez is faster than Cuello in the draw beating him in the jab. Cuello cuts Chavez. Chavez is unfazed.

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 7
Cuello jabs are so effective the rowdy Mexican crowd is silenced. Cuello is still attacking ---jabs are making Chavez look clueless ---again but Cuello needs a KO to win. Chavez's team is panicking

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 8
Chavez uppercut stuns Cuello and the Mexican follows it with another uppercut, left and right to the body. Chavez intensity rises but most of his shots don't connect. The crowd still cheers however.

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 9
Both fighters work on the body. Chavez pours it on with more combos most hitting Cuello's arms...Cuello has slowed down.

Chavez vs Cuello Fight Result Round 10
Chavez's uppercut and the left-right combo got Senior jumping up and down...Chavez repeated body shots rack up points...another left stuns Cuello again. Fight is over and Chavez wins.

Mexican fans are booing despiter their boy winning. They expect a spectacular KO but didn't happen...Cuello can withstand Chavez's body shots. He has repeatedly received them since the first round but didn't fall.

Judges scorecards:
Stephen Blea 96 - 95 Lou Filippo 96 - 94 Monique Rendon 98 - 92 for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

In the interview, Bob Arum mentions Oscar De La Hoya, John Duddy and Manny Pacquiao as next possible opponents for Chavez Jr. I think he should fight Duddy first to see if he's the real deal.

Cowboy Bebop Live Action Movie: It Better Be Good

"If the script is terrible, the live-action film adaptation will not be approved." This is a warning from Sunrise (anime studio) president Kenji Uchida to 20th Century Fox about the upcoming Cowboy Bebop Live Action movie starring Keanu Reeves as Spike Spiegel. Who would blame him after the Dragonball Evolution fiasco (remember the movie?). The movie was reportedly so bad there were jokes floating around that Akira Toriyama (Dragonball creator) had to send out apology letters to outraged fans. Sunrise insists it will have quality control on this Cowboy Bebop Live Action movie. It also helps that Keanu Reeves is a big fan of the anime - it means he actually cares about the finished product (hopefully). He visited Japan twice and got Sunrise to approve the project. Leaving nothing to chance Kenji Uchida, the series' director Shinichiro Watanabe and writer Keiko Nobumoto will serve as associate producers. Masahiko Minami, the series producer, will serve as production consultant.

"It’s got a Western quality, a Western film noir aspect to it. It’s got so much style to it, and that’s part of its appeal. That kind of Old West, bordertown, low-tech science fiction aspect." Reeves told MTV Movies Blog last December.
So what part of the Cowboy Bebop story will the live action movie tell? "We’re taking the Red Eye [story], the beginning part of the series,” he explained, “and then we’ll deal with the end of the series. We’re trying to figure out [the time frame]. We’re looking at the story right now.”

It better be good as per experience most anime remakes are epic failures. Hollywood has a poison that destroys a well-written anime like Dragonball. I hope the Cowboy Bebop Live Action movie stands out for being well-written, and attain cult status like the Matrix.

Cowboy Bebop is an anime about a group of Space Cowboys or bounty hunters tracking criminals in a futuristic world.

I will share some thoughts regarding the Dragonball Evolution fiasco soon.

Faye Valentine is TBD. I do hope they get a great one!

Naruhina Continues - Hinata's Alive; Ulquiorra Gets What's Due Him

In a development that brought happiness to Naruto Shippudden fans and sadness to trolls, Hinata is alive!!! I told you so. She's too valuable to be eliminated. Masashi Kishimoto has many uses for the anime and manga character Hinata. It means more drama is to come to the alleged romantic pair Naruto and Hinata (Naruhina).

It turns out Hinata's wounds weren't fatal and she kept on mentioning Naruto's name. In other news, the frogs are also alive.

----------------------------------------------------

Ulquiorra finally gets what's due to him in the latest issue of Bleach. A cero from a very Hollow-looking Ichigo finished him off. I'm not yet sure whether we've seen the last of him, we have to confirm it next week. No mercy from Ichigo this time.

Pacquiao vs Hatton: Fight Update and News (HBO & Sky Box Office)

For historical purposes, I decided to collect some necessary info regarding the Pacquiao vs Hatton fight on May 2, 2009 (May 3 in our country). Pacquiao vs Hatton fight is lamely called "Battle of East and West". A Paclander's proposal to call the match "Never Back Down" is much cooler and more apt considering the style and temperament of the boxers. Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton just won't back down - on anyone.

Pacquiao vs Hatton Fight Television Coverers:
USA HBO PPV Telecast: 9 pm ET / 6 pm PT
Suggested Retail Price $ 49.95
Available in 71 million homes in the United States
Promoter Bob Arum chose HBO over Showtime. "It’s been resolved and I agreed to the deal. Nobody put a gun to my head. I know what HBO can do..."

For UK: Sky Box Office will cover the event
Prices: 14.63 pounds for UK 21.48 for Ireland (check official website).
For Filipinos in Britain, don't expect objective telecast esp. from Sky and BBC. Turn off the volume.

After much unnecessary drama, the Philippine TV coverage will still be with Solar Sports aired on free TV via GMA. Prepare for four hours of brutal ads-filled broadcast. It will also be available on PPV just check Solar's website.

Pacquiao vs Hatton Fight: 24 - 7
Manny Pacquiao is the second boxer ever to be featured in the award winning HBO series "24-7". This is one of the deals that clinched the fight for the network.
24-7 Schedules:

APRIL 11 (9:30-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)
APRIL 18 (10:00-10:30 p.m.)
APRIL 25 (9:35-10:00 p.m.)
MAY 1 (9:30-10:00 p.m.)

Purse Split 52 - 48 in favor of Manny Pacquiao confirmed by The Sweet Science website and Los Angeles Times.

Manny Pacquiao is Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) "2008 Fighter of the Year". Congratulations! BWAAHAHAHA to Lyle!!! His massive victory over De La Hoya in which the latter became a punching bag was the deciding factor. Ricky Hatton is on his way to the United States to complete his training.

Warning: Please be smart. Check HBO & Sky Sports for more updates as schedules and other things might change without prior notice.

Twilight Anime Version? Edward & Bella Just Got Cooler

There's going to be Twilight Anime Version? Well at least according to the live-action director there will be. Catherine Hardwicke thinks there's going to be a Twilight anime version to be made in Japan soon. She said this on the DVD commentary of the film.

Twilight Anime

Actor Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen): I look Asian in this scene. I do, I look like an anime character.

Hardwicke: Hey, I think there's going to be an anime version of this in Japan. So you will be an anime character.

Long before news of this came out, I already saw anime-like illustrations of Bella and Edward Cullen and I thought, "Wow, it is so cool!" I have nothing against Twilight anime version but I think is this a ploy or extra buzz for its DVD release (Twilight DVD will be released on March 21 in the US)? As of the moment, don't get your hopes up - maybe this is just all an empty talk.

I read that Stephenie Meyer - Twilight's author - isn't so enthusiastic about the idea - but I couldn't confirm whether she actually made the comment or not. You may write the author and convince her to approve it. She might change her mind if she receives many positive feedback assuming of course what I've read is true.

Whether or not Meyer agrees with your letters, there's already Vampire Knight with a far superior storytelling for a vampire genre. Anime doesn't need Twilight. No details released yet for the alleged Twilight anime version so this must be hearsay at the moment.

Twilight anime version
If Twilight was made into an anime series, will the characters look like these? Bella and Edward just got 1000 times cooler.

Note: I don't claim ownership of the picture. Official Japanese Twilight book illustrations.

SOME misinformed people with below zero IQ (sprinkling of closet racists) began dissing anime (see PerezHilton site )like their cartoons are better. One even said why are anime characters have big eyes when Japanese have small eyes in reality. He concluded that they are "masters of irony". This is not the first time Asian pop culture has been attacked by dense posters in that site. As an anime fan, I'm livid at the ---ots. Anime is better than cartoons. Nobody in anime wear their briefs outside their pants -- some cartoon characters don't have pants at all! LOL!

Barrera vs Khan Fight Result: He Khan Do It

Amir Khan defeated Marco Antonio Barrera by decision as referee stopped fight due to accidental headbutt in their WBA International Lightweight championship clash at M.E.N. Arena, Manchester, UK. He is now the rising star of British boxing again after being ostracized months ago for losing to a then unknown Colombian boxer Breidis Prescott. Barrera vs Khan is marketed as the fight of a legend (faded) over a rising star. Marco Antonio Barrera unofficially retired two years ago but came back and notched a two wins over unknowns Sammy Ventura and Freudis Rojas.

Barrera vs Khan Fight Result
Round 1
Khan came roaring out and Barrera was game fighting back. Both boxers trade jabs and Barrera hits Khan with a left hook. A clash of heads cuts Barrera. Barrera is bothered by it and Amir Khan takes full advantage with left and right hands landing on the Mexican

Barrera vs Khan Fight Result
Round 2
Barrera's fighting blind but won't give up. Khan continues to rack up points. Barrera's cut is becoming worse as the fight wears on - it looks nasty. The Mexican couldn't see and is sitting duck. Khan is more patient now --- his punches are more precise and are systematically dismantling the aging Barrera.

Barrera vs Khan Fight Result
Round 3
Khan is relentless but most of his punches are blocked by Barrera. The Englishman pushes on landing a three punch combo.

Barrera vs Khan Fight Result
Round 4
Khan still dominates and blood still oozing out of Barrera's face. The fight is temporarily stopped as the doctor checks Barrera. The fight will continue - UNBELIEVABLE. Barrera offers token resistance. Khan throws a combo with the crowd roaring in approval.

Barrera vs Khan Fight Result
Round 5
Khan's lefts are unstoppable. Khan lands another combo. There's a break in action...and finally the fight is stopped. It should've been stopped earlier - GEE.

Khan wins via decision. Congratulations. I wonder if Khan will challenge Prescott to a rematch.

Official scorecards: 50 -44, 50 -45, 50 - 45

The fight should've been stopped by the fourth round. It was disgusting allowing it to continue to round 5. It would result in a no-contest if the fight was stopped between rounds 1 to 4.

Barrera vs Khan Post Fight Quotes:

"I felt so completely easy, catching him with jabs. I felt like I was on a better level than him." Khan

"I'd like to get it (a world title) done this year. I'd like to see him get a belt round his waist by the end of this year" Frank Warren - Khan's promoter

"We came ready to fight. In the first round, there was a headbutt...they didn't stop the fight in the first round and I think they should have," stated Marco Antonio Barrera. "If I would've had my two eyes...I couldn't see the guy since the first round...his punches never did nothing to me," he continued

Gerry Penalosa vs Juan Manuel Lopez; Juanma Will Kill Gerry

"Juan Manuel Lopez will kill Gerry Penalosa." This seems to be in the mind of most boxing fans when they heard the Penalosa vs Lopez match up materialized. Well, I've got news for you - Gerry Penalosa ( 54 wins 36 via KO with 6 losses & the reigning WBO Bantamweight Champion) is not some boxing newbie and he is smarter than most people give him credit for. Penalosa is old not d---. I believe with his experience Gerry will survive the much vaunted Lopez. The only thing that concerns me is whether he can win. I know Gerry can win but does he have the stamina? Penalosa vs Lopez will either be a great fight or a one-sided affair and it will all depend on Gerry. Why? Juan Manuel Lopez will continue to be his usual aggressive and destructive self while Gerry Penalosa is a bit inconsistent. He could be the young Gerry or the present one, come fight night.

Gerry Penalosa vs Juan Manuel Lopez Fight Preview

Gerry Penalosa shocked a lot of people when he took on the challenge of Juan Manuel Lopez. Juan Manuel Lopez from Caguas, Puerto Rico is one formidable boxer with a record of 24 wins 22 via knockouts and no losses. Some of his opponents didn't even reach round two. Gerry is unfazed. Penalosa met another knockout artist before in the name of Daniel Ponce De Leon whom people say will lay Gerry to waste. It didn't happen. Using his experience and counter punching, Gerry Penalosa troubled De Leon. Gerry wasn't even hurt and the fact remains that some boxing writers had him ahead on their unofficial scorecards! You know why Gerry lost? Daniel Ponce De Leon simply outworked him --- Penalosa was surviving but didn't show enough to take the fight away from the Mexican - at least these were the judges' opinion on that.

Gerry Penalosa vs Juan Manuel Lopez Fight Preview

The first round is critical for Penalosa as Juan Ma Lopez explosiveness and knockout power might take Gerry by surprise and end the Filipino's night. I know his camp is prepared for this, and knowing Lopez's aggressiveness, Penalosa will have to counter punch his way out of it. There's no problem with Gerry's chin - he has withstand the best punches thrown at him but now that he has aged I wonder how many strikes he can handle. If this was 10 years ago, I'd say Gerry Penalosa will definitely win. I'm not saying Gerry Penalosa has no chance against Lopez at this phase of his career. Gerry can win if his stamina can sustain his attack. Against German Meral weeks ago, Gerry could barely keep up with his running opponent. Meral was very scared of Penalosa and sprinted his way to a loss. I am disturbed for Gerry is not as fast as he used to be. Thankfully for Penalosa, Juan Manuel Lopez will meet him head on. Lopez is gung-ho in trying to prove to the world he is for real and not a bum destroyer. Penalosa is a real challenge for him. Juan Manuel Lopez should never underestimate Gerry Penalosa. Two of his last three fights, the Filipino won via knockout. There's still power in the veteran's hands and Lopez has been dropped before during his amateur career.

Two boxers have so much at stake in the fight and this makes Penalosa vs Lopez a great match to watch.

Penalosa vs Lopez Update

March 11, 2009 - Gerry Penalosa will join Manny Pacquiao in the Wild Card Gym for training. He is also under Freddie Roach.

“I’m training hard. This is the most important fight of my career. I will continue to train at the Wild Card Gym in L.A. under the guidance of Coach Freddie after my return from the presscon in Puerto Rico this Saturday," PeƱalosa was quoted in the Philboxing.com interview.

Pacland Owns Hatton; Pacfans More Classy

Since Hatton has been busy dishing out nonsense lately and Paclanders or the people of Philboxing.com have taken the cudgel for their idol.

Hatton: I AM TOO BIG FOR YOU MANNY

Bob colins:
"Hatton is right he is bigger than Pac. May 2 as follows:
will be bigger in damages
will be bigger in bleeding
will be bigger in swollen face
will be bigger in head pains
will be bigger in rolling the canvass"

Chiktoferken:
"But PAC has the bigger heart
"

If you want to see more pawnage visit philboxing.com. I can't reprint them all...

------------------------------------------
-

The fight is at 140lbs and Hatton plans to add up to 14 - 16 lbs - a suicide if you will. No knowledgeable boxing fan will believe that. Ten pounds or less is the ideal weight to gain come fight night unless of course Hatton wants to do a De La Hoya meaning become another punching bag. They are not fooling anyone with that.

By the way, Hatton talks too much. I think it is a sign of insecurity. If boxing was a talking contest, Hatton should've won against Mayweather - too bad it is NOT. On second thought, Hatton will win only on the number of words wasted since most of Mayweather's barbs are on target!

Every boxer save for the loonies have plans every time they box. Once they get hit, it will take a lot of discipline not to deviate from it.

Pacfans are definitely more classy than this certain guy. They don't boo the US National Anthem while in the US - that act is disgusting. Pacquiao's fans know how to respect their host.

Francis Magalona: King of Philippine Rap is Dead!

Philippine rap pioneer Francis Magalona died as he succumbed to severe sepsis as a complication of leukemia at 12 noon today, March 6, 2009. He was too weak to fight the infection. The pro-Filipino (rare one) musician left behind a loving wife and eight children. He was 44.

Francis Magalona's battle against leukemia started on August, 2008. To be accurate, his disease is called acute myelogenous leukemia. It is a form of cancer which interferes with the production of red blood cells. According to Wikipedia, it is a treatable disease but only few survive.

It was only months ago when Magalona proudly displayed his clothing with very Filipino designs. Unlike other Filipino artists, Francis Magalona stayed true to his roots and earned respect even of the younger generation of Filipino music fans. New rappers nowadays are usually fighting each other but no one ever dared diss FrancisM.

Francis Magalona's message still rings true today.

Pacquiao vs Hatton Fight Quotes; Manny-chester, Pacquiao as William Wallace

These are quotes related to the upcoming Pacquiao vs Hatton showdown in Las Vegas this May.

"I am also a fan of Ricky, but Manny will kill him" - Batista

"I like Ricky because he has been very friendly since I came to England - on Saturday he even took me down to his local pub for a game of darts. But when we are in the ring, we will become different people. We will turn into warriors - nobody can help you in there when you are hurt and you need time out.I still have the hunger because I can remember what it was like when we could only afford to eat once a day and I was sleeping on the street. And I can remember the purse from my first fight was the equivalent of half an English pound: I gave it to my mother to help her buy our food.Every time I step into the ring, I am representing my people and give them inspiration by showing how Manny Pacquiao went from nothing to something." Pacquiao

"When I get in the ring I am fighting for these people. I represent them. Every fight I dedicate to my people" - Pacquiao

"North, South, East and West, this will be no contest.” Floyd Sr

"Now, I solved my fight & won and I will wait for the result of the fight between Hatton & Pacquiao…but I prefer to fight Manny Pacquiao…. Now, I can move on to 140 lbs. and fight either Ricky Hatton or Manny Pacquiao" - Juan Manuel Marquez to Philboxing.com

"Manny will get to him in the later rounds and will knock him out at some point" - Roach

“I’ve been trying to get a third fight with Manny Pacquiao," he would say through Gomez. "But he doesn't want to fight me. So if he's not going to fight me than I'm calling out the very best - that's Floyd Mayweather. Who wouldn't want to see that fight? I'll fight him at 140, maybe a little bit above that. I want to fight the very best. " - JMM

"If anybody thinks FreddieJoke CoachRoach can do a better job than me they must be sick" Floyd Sr.

"It's a shame, Senior is not in the Hall of Fame" Roach

"Hatton is bigger than I am but this isn’t about big. It’s about punching hard and being effective." Pacquiao

Winning Pacquiao quote so far:

"It shouldn't be called Manchester; it should be called Manny-chester." Pacquiao

"I’m William Wallace, my middle name is Burns, and I am going to fight for Freedom against an Englishman.” Pacquiao

Update: Bernard Hopkins picks Pacquiao

Naruhina - Hinata's Confessions

originally written February 27, 2009

Well, the love month is about to end and I'll feature another anime couple - Naruto & Hinata or Naruhina to some fans. Will their love story that never even started end in a tragedy?

Hinata has always LOVED Naruto ever since they were in the Academy. She was there secretly hoping for her guy to at least decently complete a technique and finally pass as a ninja. Hinata's support was silent but sincere. Of course, Naruto didn't pull off the Kage Bunshin properly - his clone was malnourished and couldn't even stand. Despite that, Hinata's admiration never wavered. She still likes him - even if the whole village of Konoha despises Naruto. She hears them - their harsh words and their backstabbing. It doesn't matter to her. Slowly, Naruhina movement grew as the underdog persevered.

What does Naruto think about Hinata? Well, he initially thought she is weird (see early episode the start of Chuunin Exams). She couldn't look him in the eye and gets embarrassed at his gaze. Luckily for her, Naruto is a good guy - and is still friendly towards her. In the Chuunin Exams, it was Naruto's turn to support her. Hinata was getting mauled by her cousin Neji and Naruto cheered and encouraged her. His actions gave her strength and she fought on. Although she lost the match, it gave Hinata the motivation to do better and get acknowledged by her man. So, she trained hard. She finally got her chance to prove her worth to Naruto when she singlehandedly defeated the huge Hornet sent against her. She got his attention - and respect.

In the Naruto love triangle, Hinata is the underdog. If this was another anime series, she would be the other girl. Why? Her personality - demure, shy, and good is almost the stereotype of the losing party ---- in any anime (for reference - Orihime and the other girl in Shakugan No Shana). Unlike those unfortunate anime girls, Hinata has a decent chance -- esp. if Naruto gets over Sakura. Too bad for Naruto, Sakura doesn't like him. However, Naruto is clueless about Hinata's feelings.

Naruhina will go a long way if only Hinata can talk to Naruto. When they were young, they had decent conversations. Now, Hinata can barely control herself. Her shyness has completely controlled her. She couldn't talk to him without passing out first. LOL! Naruhina fans are screaming hoarse everytime in happens. Haha funny pair!

Hinata prepared a chocolate cake for Naruto last Valentine's day. I'm sure you guys saw it. Sakura ruined it of course - she added some inedible things . Tsk! Tsk! It has to happen, right? The anti-Narusaku clubs were seething in pure anger at that one.

There is a possibility Naruhina will fade away and end in tragedy. I said possibility. There are no indispensable characters in Naruto. When it is their time to go, they go. Hinata is in bad shape both in the manga (437) and anime (trapped in crystal). Hinata confessed - it was late but she did. She couldn't bear to see him getting punished. A tragedy is about to happen, will it be averted? The Naruhina supporters are hoping for a positive outcome. Is their romance (alleged) this short?

----

My take: Hinata will live.

Rumor: Kishimoto is a NaruSaku

No evidence yet to prove that.

Naruto says he wants Hinata with Sakura in view
I'm serious - not a fan video

Note: due to time contraints I'll review this post later. I'm sorry for the possible grammatical errors in it.

Juan Manuel Marquez Destroys Juan Diaz; Marquez vs Diaz Fight Result

Juan Manuel Marquez (50 -4 -1 37 kos) defeated Juan Diaz in spectacular fashion to retain his WBA, WBO, IBO and The Ring Magazine Lightweight championship in Toyota Center, Houston, Texas, USA. A huge Marquez uppercut felled Juan Diaz (34 - 2 17 kos) 2:40 of the ninth round. Frankly speaking, it was a come from behind victory from Marquez who is losing to Diaz on points.

The first round started explosively thereby only affirming the truth that two Mexican warriors are indeed fighting despite the pre-fight talk of who's the real Mexican. Juan Diaz staggered Marquez twice in the first and second round. Marquez was cut in the second. From the third to the fifth round, it was a Juan Diaz show. The hometown boy from Houston was trapping Marquez and punishing him with left hooks and jabs. Marquez looked bewildered and old. The action ebbed in the sixth with Juan Diaz trying to take a breather and at that time Juan Manuel Marquez was bleeding and his face looked swollen. Marquez was on the verge of losing but came back in the eighth round. A cut over Diaz's eye (ruled as accidental headbutt by the referee) invigorated Marquez. Finally in the ninth round, a Marquez's uppercut caught Diaz and hometown boy never recovered.
Marquez vs Diaz lived up to expectations.

In an interview, Juan Manuel Marquez said he wants to fight retired Floyd Mayweather. However only a $20 million guaranteed pay will convince Mayweather to come out of retirement.
