Erik Morales wants Juan Manuel Marquez; Morales vs Marquez

Boxingscene.com reports that Erik Morales wants to fight Juan Manuel Marquez in May - as a lightweight. Morales also rationalized his massive losses to Manny Pacquiao because of his weight problems and intimated Manny did not want to fight him as a Lightweight. Wow, Erik is still bitter with the defeats eh? LOL. However, Top Rank won't promote the Mexican anymore since he revealed he hears "buzzing noises" every time he takes a punch. The promoter won't risk it! Erik has to do it on his own.

Erik Morales vs Juan Manuel Marquez fight should've happened years ago and I wonder why it didn't push through. I'm still trying to figure out who's ducking who. Knowing Morales as a ring warrior, I doubt it was him. Morales - Marquez fight would have been one of the best in boxing history had it happened at the right time when both were at their devastatingly best. Let's face it. Morales is out of shape. I saw him on TV months ago and I could barely recognize him - to think he is only 32. Besides, he lost five straight fights. Now, look at the current Ring Magazine Lwt champ Marquez. He looks fit at 35 and had just disposed of another aged warrior Joel Casamayor (see Marquez vs Casamayor). Besides, the "buzzing noises" Morales hears is a bad sign. He should quit before it gets worse. I will not be surprised if they pull this fight off - I mean Pacquiao vs De La Hoya materialized despite it defying common sense.

I'm not discounting Morales off completely, I believe he can give Marquez a good fight but he has a health problem - that disturbs me.

Among the Mexican triumvirate Manny faced, Erik is the one who got my respect - not because of his attitude but his warrior heart.

I'll keep you updated with this development.

Floyd Mayweather ducks Antonio Margarito and $8 million

Why can't Floyd Mayweather escape the chicken tag? I don't know maybe because HE IS. In 2006, Mayweather in his prime turned down $8 million dollars to fight Antonio Margarito. He said he was injured and Margarito is not a household name (back then) but two years later Mayweather vs Margarito never materialized even when the latter won the welterweight championship over Cotto (Margarito vs Cotto). The Mexican has the credibility to challenge Mayweather now unlike before.

Gee I wonder why cock-a-doodle doo!!! Even if he is not afraid of Margarito, Floyd doesn't want to fight the best. Mayweather has no right to call himself a great boxer because of the long list of fighters he has avoided (Mayweather scared of Cotto
). To be the best you have to beat the best. Despite his delusional claims, Mayweather will never beat the great Sugar Ray Robinson.

Mayweather often wonders why he doesn't get any respect? If he wants to get respect - do it the old-fashioned way by facing and beating the best boxers available not avoiding them and giving flimsy reasons.

Mayweather is a smart boxer though. He only takes on boxers he thinks he can beat.

BBC apologizes to the Filipino people

BBC is Racist campaign by FilipinosFilipino campaign against the BBC's racist show

BBC apologized for airing a tasteless and sexist joke aimed at Filipino workers in Britain. This is the second time a BBC show threw a racist joke against Filipinos. Why do I have the feeling that as long as its jokes aren't aimed at Blacks and Muslims BBC won't consider it offensive? The company thought it was getting away with it by having a news blackout on the matter but British-Filipinos made their presence felt with a vigil and petition that probably caught the company bosses off guard. This time BBC paid.

TYPICAL ENGLISH BLOKEBritish humor as lame as this guy

Firstly, we’re sorry if you were in any way offended by the program as this wasn’t our intention.

It in no way represents real people and was never intended to offend or demean any viewer.

We recognize that you were personally offended by the sketch and would like to assure you that your complaint has been registered on our audience log.

BBC letter

This joke came after Black English players were racially abused in Croatia and the British press condemned the racist Croat fans actions. Hypocrites! BBC should be fined too like Croatia. Their apology isn't even public. BBC's double standard is AMAZING!

I am not instigating hatred against the BBC I'm only expressing my opinion on the matter. When there are people who discriminate or belittle my people I will counter it at the earliest so it won't be repeated again.

Calzaghe Disses Pavlik; Maki Horikita Update

Joe Calzaghe disses Kelly Pavlik after the latter's defeat at the hands of Bernard Hopkins yesterday calling the American "overrated".

"I said all along Kelly Pavlik was overrated"

Look in the mirror Joe.

It should be recalled Pavlik wanted to fight Calzaghe but the Welsh ran away. Pavlik took on Hopkins and got schooled completely.

Calzaghe spent most of his years fighting patsies in Britain and when asked about fighting Hopkins again he said, "You can forget about a rematch with Hopkins as that's definitely not one the fans would look forward to."

He got knocked down by Bernard in their fight and is probably afraid of getting beat LOL. Man, anyone could get lucky winning once against Bernard but twice?
The Great Joe Calzaghe is running away from Hopkins. He loves his undefeated record so much. Great.

Maki Horikita

First episode of Maki Horikita's new drama Innocent Love got 16.9% ratings in Japan - a bit short of expectations but better than most Japanese doramas. A rating of 20% is considered a hit in the country. I'm thinking of avoiding this drama too as I've said before it is a tearjerker.

However, Hana Kimi SP is what I'm waiting for.
Hopefully, the Drama RAWs are available now and I reckon by next week subs are available.

Maki HorikitaThe very lovely Maki Horikita

Nailin Pailin becomes Nailin Paylin!

Hollywood decided to get into the Nailin Pailin bandwagon and made a movie called "Nailin Paylin" loosely based on a woman called Sarah Palin. The video clip is rather titillating to say the least.

The story is something about Sarah Palin or in the movie - Serra Paylin's professor teaching her about the Big Bang theory and throw in Condoleeza Rice and Hilary Clinton lookalikes. Yikes!!!

I'm not surprised at all!

Check out O'Reilly!!! LOL

So who's Nailin Pailin? I surmise:
  1. The Russians?
  2. Condoleeza Rice with Hilary Clinton?
  3. Her professor?
  4. McCaint?
  5. All of them?
I bet you know the answer already anyway.

The Nailin Pailin tag was supposed to embarrass Sarah Palin instead the VP candidate earned sympathy from some women political pundits. It stars Lisa Ann as the lead nailer....

NAILIN PALIN

I've been looking for some clips or videos of Nailin Palin and with painstaking search I've found some. Check this out. Nailin Palin is now the target of the establishment. The problem is some Americans' envy and jealously got into the mix and they joined the Anti-Palin bandwagon. They see her as some Queen Bee or older version of Paris Hilton. They get their ego boost by putting down others. Good or not, it would be better if we concentrate on what this woman is all about - her stand on issues and her past performance whether she could actually talk straight. What struck me with this woman is her reputation back in Alaska. I became wary of her but nothing personal. There is something about her that arouses my suspicion. I wonder why McCain chose her.

Update 10-20-08
You mean Nailin Paylin?

Sarah Palin has serious credibility issues, like most Republicans I guess.

Some British comedian's (if it does exist. Well a comedian has to be funny - that's the main requirement - most British are not) impression of Sarah Palin.

Is Pacquiao- De La Hoya Dream Match Rigged?

As a long-time boxing fan, I can say NO. The Pacquiao vs. De La Hoya Dream Match is not rigged! If you ever hear some people say this, please ask yourselves first whether they are really boxing fans or they know at least something in the sport. I heard a lady say boxing matches are rigged the problem was she has no credibility since she couldn't tell an orthodox to southpaw stance. Campbell said earlier if Pacquiao survives after three rounds or something the fix is in. I think Campbell is just jealous or bitter since Pacquiao vs De La Hoya revenues could reach $100 million - a mark even some Hollywood movies couldn't reach in North America alone. Yes, there are boxers who probably fix their fights but no fighter in the level of Pacquiao and De La Hoya would do such thing!

Why do you believe Pacquiao vs De La Hoya isn't a charade?

Both Pacquiao and De La Hoya has made amazing achievements and solidified their legacy in the sport of boxing that throwing it away for a few millions is unbelievable yarn! De La Hoya is a six weight division World Champion - achieved through hard work and toil while Pacquiao is a five weight division World Champion and Pound for Pound King - achieved through hard work and blood. They have done so much that I don't think they would do anything to disrespect the sport of boxing. Boxing made Manny and Oscar rich, famous and respected sportsmen. Respect is something not even money could buy. All the hard work they have done in their entire career would be lost with just one miscalculation such as having a fake match. Besides possible FBI action will be triggered if something like that happens. Joining Tim Donaghiy in jail isn't funny.
Both Pacquiao and De La Hoya wants boxing to be in the limelight of US Sports again that's why they are touring the country and promoting the Dream Match and what a way to do it by having a clean and exciting match.

Some even suggest Manny to dive - to feign a fall with the first weak connecting punch from Oscar - that way he earns millions in just few seconds of work and saving himself from harm. Thinking clearly, what good it would do to Manny's and to the country's reputation? Thanks to Manny our boxers are now given the respect that they deserve. If he dives, Manny will put himself and our country in.....BUT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. Manny Pacquiao is NOT YET A POLITICIAN (he is an actor though that's another story). Besides, we all know Manny's motivation in boxing. First, it is to earn money and secondly to glorify our country. He will do the best he can do make our country proud. I've seen this before and there's no reason to doubt.

For the record, I will support Manny despite the fact that I don't like this match up in the first place.

Asians in US NCAA Basketball; Japeth Aguilar and Jeremy Lin

The US NCAA basketball season is just around the corner and I often wondered how many Asians are playing in the league. I did some research and it turns out there are many. Almost all ethnic grouping represented Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Cambodian. I don't mean half-breeds but FULL-BLOODIED members of their community. Asian basketball players (in US NCAA men's basketball tournament) aren't getting enough media attention so I decided to feature some of them:

Japeth Aguilar
College: Western Kentucky University
Height:6-9
Weight: 210 lbs
Position: Forward (according to Hilltopper.com)
Year: Senior

Japeth Aguilar played College ball in the Philippines for two years but dreamed of bigger things. His dream is to play in the NBA and one way he could do that is to get improve his basketball skills and raise his level of play. Only the United States could offer that.

Here's Bill Velasco - Philippine Star November 12, 2007 report:

When Japeth was playing for the Blue Eagles, his father, 6’5” former Ginebra center Peter, put together a highlight reel of his son’s slam dunks, blocked shots and offensive exploits. He sent the DVD to a Bradley alumnus, who circulated it. Bradley then contacted Japeth, and flew him to Chicago. However, the school had run out of athletic scholarships.

Undaunted, the fleet-footed Japeth joined a camp in Chicago, and drew the attention of many college scouts. Narrowing his choices down to four, Japeth eventually settled on Western Kentucky, because he liked the system they used. It was a big leap for the gangling player.

He attended an evaluation camp in Illinois and soon attracted NCAA schools such as Bradley, Loyola, South Dakota State, Niagara, and Middle Tennessee State according to Scout.com. Japeth chose Western Kentucky University under Darrin Horn. Japeth Aguilar is the first homegrown Filipino talent recruited and played in US NCAA division I basketball.

In his first two games for the Hilltoppers last year, Japeth Aguilar he had 8 points 8 rebounds 4 blocked shots 3 Assists and 2 steals. He got injured during practice after the Kentucky-Wesleyan game and unfortunately missed the rest of the season including WKU spectacular victory over Drake University.

“When he was injured, he lost his spot in the rotation. I don’t understand why Coach Darrin Horn didn’t put him back in the line-up.” Peter Aguilar told Bill Velasco of Philstar.com. Japeth's job is to come off the bench and defend. It's just too bad about the injury.

Aguilar was used by Horn as a defensive specialist. WKU has a new coach and I'm hoping Aguilar could fit the new system and gets to play.

On Aguilar's injury: Bill Velasco March 31, 2008

This season, Aguilar had bulked up, improved his ballhandling and shooting, and worked his way to becoming the first player of the bench for the Toppers. But late last year, he started feeling pain in his right foot. Doctors discovered a stress fracture, and Aguilar was sidelined for two months.

The good news is that the Hilltoppers have asked Aguilar to stay another year.

“When they found out Japeth was injured, they appealed to him to use another year of his eligibility, so he’ll play until 2010,” the elder Aguilar confirmed.

Man, I hope this time...things would be better.

Jeremy Lin
School: Harvard University
Height: 6-2
Weight: 180 lbs
Position: Guard
Year: Junior

Accomplishments:
  • Named in All Ivy League Second Team last season (the only one from Harvard)Started in all 30 games for Harvard
  • One of the statistical leaders in points, assists, shooting percentage, and leads the Ivy League in steals.
  • Jeremy Lin averaged 12.6 points and 3.6 assist per game last year for the HARVARD Crimson.
Talk about student-athlete! Man, we are talking about Harvard University here - the No.1 University in the World.

I couldn't say much about Jeremy Lin since the Ivy League games don't reach our country. I think PAC 10 and ACC games are usually covered - since the best basketball programs in College are usually found in those conferences.

Not bad for a race stereotyped as non-athletic, I expect more Asians to play in US NCAA basketball tournament. China is anxious to close the talent gap of its players from those abroad and one cost-effective way of doing it is to send its talented players to the US where they would get top-notch training and opposition and raise their level of play.

I hope more Filipino players follow Japeth Aguilar's path and try to play in US NCAA like the Chinese. Japeth Aguilar bulked up and he looks intimidating. In fact, Team Pilipinas under Coach Yeng Guiao has finally noticed him. He should get an invite for the national team tryouts.

This is not the end yet - I will feature more.

Update:
1-10-2009

Three days ago, Jeremy Lin powered Harvard Crimson to an 82 - 70 victory over no.17 Boston College. He had 27 points, 8 assists, 6 steals, 2 blocked shots and 3 rebounds to lead Harvard to its first victory ever over a ranked opponent. Crimson is now 8-6 definitely a much better record than their 8- 22 win-loss tally last season.

Coach Yeng Guiao Bodyslams Rajko Toroman - in Words Again

Team Pilipinas Coach Yeng Guiao was quoted by the Manila Bulletin on its October 4, 2008 issue as saying to the effect money paid to SBP-backed Coach Toroman is better off spent on finding a foreign reinforcement.

"Kung may pera naman pala sila (SBP), di sana sa pagkuha na lang ng 7-footer na pwede i-naturalize for the national team ginamit," Guiao said to the newspaper.

Yeng Guiao who is also busy fighting Ed Panlilio in Pampanga is now waging a two-front battle (something even the United States Armed Forces isn't sure it could carry out) this time with foreign coaches esp. Toroman.

"Hiring foreign coach should be the least option. Under Philippine labor law, foreign worker can be done only if there is no available in our country and provided he or she has new technology or new system that is not yet known in our country."

Coach Yeng said he is not totally against foreign coaches provided there is really a transfer of technology and the role of Toroman clarified.

Is it really better off spending money on a foreign reinforcement than a foreign coach?

In the short term, it is but in the long term a foreign coach is more beneficial. Toroman's job is not just a coach, he is also a teacher and skills coach. The knowledge gain by the players will be enormous and cannot be quantified. Can one measure the benefit endowed to us by a mentor? Hiring a foreign mercenary is good but after the tournament what? Did we learn anything from him?

What new technology does Toroman bring?

Indepth knowledge of FIBA rules, strategies, tactics and nuances, it is something no PBA coach has. Yes it can be augmented by study and seminars but Toroman has practical knowledge already. Our coaches are experts but in NBA or American type of basketball which is effective if we are as athletic and tall as the Americans but our basketball players are midgets compared to competition - and poor shooters. That's the reason why Toroman is here to teach Filipino coaches so one of them could replace him in the future.

Gee, I wonder why it is okay to hire imports but not a foreign coach. In fact I think imports only encourage the locals to be lazy and dump all the work to the foreigner thus deteriorating the quality of professional leagues. College teams nowadays are filled with foreigners I wonder why nobody's giving a hoot.

In the news today, Coach Yeng Guiao is impressed with Solomon Mercado, Jared Dillinger, and Jason Castro plans to include them to his pool.

“Gabe Norwood is a given, being a member of the RP team to the last FIBA Asia championship. Among the new faces, Jared Dillinger, Solomon Mercado and Jason Castro are those who deserve a second look. They should be given a chance to be considered although they’re in for a tough competition considering the talents that we have in their spots." Guiao told Philstar.com

In a great move, the PBA also plans to invite Japeth Aguilar, the first Philippine-born basketball player in the US NCAA Division 1, in the pool.

It's about TIME!

What is the Filipino Language?

What is the Filipino language? Well, Virginia there's no such thing as the Filipino language. It doesn't exist or it exists only on a political toilet paper called the Constitution. There are only Filipino languages namely, Hiligaynon, Bisaya, Ilokano, and Waray etc. Filipino language is actually Tagalog in disguise like the Trojan malware in your computer pretending to be a legitimate process but is destroying your machine. No, I'm not being harsh. It is the reality.

In schools, we are taught that Filipino is supposed to be Tagalog + Borrowed words from English & others + Regional languages. In reality the equation is Filipino = Tagalog. English add words are slowly being replaced and "translated" even like the word press conference in evening news a Tagalog equivalent is used. Is that proof enough? Let us not even get into grammar, syntax and what not. Why do Tagalog books in schools insist on the amusing word "kompyuter" instead of "computer" is beyond me. It is okay if only 100% of Filipinos are really native Tagalog but we are not. The Filipino language charade has been going on for so long when we all know it is Tagalog. Stop that! This charade has led some speakers to believe they are superior to others (they say Filipino is based on Tagalog - YEAH RIGHT - tell that to the Marines).

My biggest beef with "Filipino language" is this fictional language slowly creates a feeling of superiority to some people as if they are the be-all and end-all of being a Filipino. A Filipino should be some Barong Tagalog wearing guy that speaks like Balagtas (with a fig behind his ear hopefully) and those who don't speak with the right accent are ostracized and ridiculed on radio. Who give you the right to lord over us? Nothing... you are not the boss of us. An Igorot on Bahag is as Filipino as a Malong wearing person in Mindanao. You are never the standard of being a Filipino stop being one!

Why the resentment? Non-Tagalog people are NOT allowed to sing the National Anthem in their native tongue. We have been in this Island long before there was a republic. In addition, we are not ALLOWED TO STUDY OUR OWN LANGUAGE IN OUR SCHOOLS. Why doesn't the government allow us? IT IS OUR RIGHT TO DO SO GIVE IT TO US!!! Unlike Filipino, our Language is REAL.

Some Tagalista professor said it is our fault that our dialect is dying (notice the tone). HAHA! He is a comedian. Give Hiligaynon the necessary funding and I can tell you our language will thrive. In fact our language is thriving despite no government help. Can you say that honestly to that fiction Filipino language? Don't kid yourself.

Thankfully, many non-Tagalog Filipinos are waking up to this reality and are fighting back. There is a Kapampangan cultural renaissance happening led by confident Kapampangan youth who are proud of their way of life. Other short-sighted initiatives were held back - English is still the medium of instruction in schools. Even the National Anthem law is being challenged - local Cebuano legislators are leading the defiance. We realize only we can save our culture.

You may say, so what's the problem?

It is not enough. Only when regional languages are given the RESPECT & recognition they deserve. It means other Non-Tagalog languages should be intellectualized and taught in schools just like in other CIVILIZED NATIONS with RESPECT for DIVERSITY. There are more demands but survival is the top priority right now.

(To be continued)

Maki Horikita

Maki Horikita - Japanese ActressMaki Horikita

Maki Horikita
is a Japanese actress known for her roles in television dramas such as Nobuta wo Produce and Hana Kimi made the news today. She said she is looking for a boyfriend.

"I don’t have a boyfriend at the moment, but I’d like to do my best to find one from now on. I’d like to be married within 10 years. I hope I’ll still be attractive then.” She told the Japanese press as quoted by Japantoday.com. She turned 20 this week.

Maki Horikita has no boyfriend....YAHOO!!! As if we have a chance. I was actually surprised at this development. I bet this wouldn't last long as you can see how beautiful she is from the pictures. Can you believe how beautiful she is?

Maki Horikita began her showbiz career as an under-15 idol in Japan. She also did some light gravure work. Maki's big break came in the drama Nobuta wo Produce. Her portrayal of Kotani Nobuko impressed many and she won a Best Supporting Actress award in the process. Maki Horikita has won two more acting awards since - a testament to her talent.

Maki Horikita has two younger sisters. She plans to be married by the time she's 30.

I saw Ms. Maki Horikita first in Hana Kimi but I was impressed with her acting in Nobuta wo Produce. She fits the role of Kotani Nobuko perfectly - a cold, sad and weird young woman. She has a new drama coming up called Innocent Love. Not looking forward to that since I don't like tear jerkers. I avoid them at all cost.

Name: Maki Horikita
Nickname: maki-maki, pori-chan, horikitty

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya Update: Margarito Disses Oscar

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya
In the run-up to the Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar De La Hoya Dream Match, Antonio Margarito lashed out against Oscar De La Hoya for chickening out and picking a smaller fighter to fight. Several months ago, Margarito (the current WBA Welterweight champion) challenged De La Hoya for a match but Oscar fled, fearing sure defeat. No I don't believe the latter's excuse.

"Now Oscar is getting brave with a 135-pound fighter and is trying to convince everyone that it's a tough fight. He's getting brave with a great fighter, but a fighter who fights at 135 pounds. He wants to show the world that he can pull the trigger against a 135-pounder. What a man! What a hero!" Margarito told Espn.com today.

As usual Oscar has no response except to beat his chest and tell everyone how brave guy he is when he took on Manny.

Pacquiao vs. De La Hoya
Obviously, Oscar's gun is only effective for small fighters. De La Hoya is COURAGEOUS indeed.

Of course, De La Hoya wants to pad his record a bit. After all, Margarito would crush him. At this phase of his life, he needs all the ego-boost he can have.

Don't get me wrong. Even if I'm against this fight, I will support Manny.

We will keep a close eye on this fight my dear readers 'til the end. Please continue to support this blog. Two days ago, it was confirmed that GMA-7 will cover the fight and I reckon the coverage will last the whole day or just four hours if we are lucky.

The Asian Guy Gets The White Girl

Asian Man White WomanAsian Guys do get the Girls

When Asian guy gets the white girl, you know how some people react? I'm not in the business of putting myself and my kind down nor would I resort to willful manipulation of data to prove a point. But I can tell you frankly my readers Asian Guys do get the girls - and I don't mean just any bar girl, or mail order ones but real successful women. When Asian Guys get the girl esp. white one, racists' react. In fact, only one Australian network (SBS) bothered to name the guy - Albert Tse - while others focused on the Prime Minister and his daughter Jessica since they resent the relationship. Nice one but it won't stay hidden for long. They look pathetic doing that.

Asian Guy White GirlAl Gore's daughter

Asian men don't just get any white girl down the street. They get the ones with class. The idea that Asian guys can't get white girls is as real as Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. Romance is a personal choice and not a way to promote one's supposed superiority. Asian guys do get the girls - if they want to.

I really don't understand the hysteria over
white girls. I can't comprehend the question why can't Asian guys get white girls? Why is this question so prominent? Is this the only way to measure minority men's masculinity (in the US)? What if white women don't appeal to Asian men? Does it make us less of a man? There is nothing special about white women. Frankly speaking even some white men in Asia tend to make fun of them.

Some White Men in Asia stereotype White females as fat. They call them fat in their blogs or wherever they privately congregate. Don't believe me? Google it! Frankly speaking, it is such an unfortunate stereotype.

Though, the quality of Asian Male - White Female relationship is better than White Men - Asian Female according to this poster:

In my opinion, AM/WF relationships seem to be much more normal, healthy and balanced than WM/AF relationships. The latter almost always includes an insecure, self-hating AF, that puts down AM and glorifies WM, while the WM is almost always a geeky fetishist. Sorry, but this is just what I've noticed over the years. In all the WF/AM relationships I've ever seen, I've never seen anything like that. The people in these relationships tend to be equals in terms of attractiveness, education, income level, goals, etc and complement each other very well. None of the white women I know that date or are married to asian men have any preoccupation with race, or some weird expectations as to what dating an asian man "means" or any stereotypes about them.

Goldsea

Quality beats Quantity anytime in my book. I think it is AM-WF is a relationship of equals not on some fetish.

THE REAL QUESTION should be is why Asian guys don't date Hispanic women more? I think they are hotter per capita than white women. You need proof? They dominate international beauty contests REGULARLY. If you don't understand the beauty of a Latina, it's your loss. No offense meant to white women reading this just my personal preference. If some feelings were hurt (I refer to the women), I apologize so you'll know this is not a white guy writing this. There are so many choices why limit it on one race.

Manny Pacquiao's Classic Quotes: Pacquiao vs De La Hoya Six City Tour Highlights

Manny Pacquiao made another classic quote two days ago at the San Francisco Press Conference of the Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar De La Hoya Dream Match on December 6.

This is the Pound for Pound King's response to the Alamo taunt of De La Hoya:

“Yesterday we went to San Antonio and Oscar said, ‘Remember the Alamo!’’’ Pacquiao said. “But you know what? I don’t know what is the story of the Alamo in San Antonio.’’

"Don't just say it. Do it." He added.

The crowd laughed. Hopefully, Oscar will see the Real Manny come Fight Night. This comment beats "Goat is my favorite" quip made by Manny during the Pacquiao vs Diaz press conference months ago. Unfortunately for Diaz, Cubs still got eliminated in the MLB post-season.

It never gets tiring for me writing about Manny. I'm glad I get to cover this guy while he is still fighting.

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya Watch: News, Data, Info...whatever

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya
This is the position Pacquiao wants De La Hoya to be in come fight night - on his a--

The Pacquiao vs De La Hoya Dream Match is getting intense media attention as the week passes by. The Golden Boy Promotions - Top Rank media blitz is working and the campaign first began in New York with Manny and Oscar having a photo-op at the Statute of Liberty. Chicago, Houston, San Antonio followed and at the moment the two boxers are in San Francisco promoting the fight and exchanging juicy sound bites for boxing media both legitimate (Espn, Fox etc) and fly-by-night ones (Ringtalk, Boxingconfidential) to blow out of proportions. So far the fight has been a blockbuster already in terms of ticket sales and fan reception despite the economic crisis facing the United States and the rest of the world at the moment.

“I found this toy gun But I can’t pull the trigger. It must be yours.”
"Ayyy!" (as in KFC commercial) - De La Hoya
"He he he" - Pacquiao

San Francisco Press Conference

Match Date: December 6

Place: MGM Casino Resort

Estimated revenue:
$100 million according to Inquirer Aug. 29 issue

Sacrifice: De La Hoya evaded Margarito just to fight the BIGGER, HUNGRIER boxer
in Manny. Oskie is such a brave man -sniffles- don't you think guys?

HBO
will air a reality series featuring both fighters on Nov.16 8:30 Pacific / Eastern Time please check local listings and subject to change without prior notice. Don't blame me if you miss it. I wonder if the country's official fight broadcaster could air that show for I'll definitely watch it (no knows what station would cover the fight).

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya Press Conference"What about me?" - the late Billy the Goat stewed after Pacquiao-Diaz match

This is the first part of a series featuring
Pacquiao-De La Hoya match up. I will provide more updates and analysis in the build up to the December 6 fight.

Topmost Image note:

I don't want to post disrespectful photo of OLDH but he started trash-talking Pacquiao in San Antonio. “I will knock you out on Dec. 6. I’m telling you this because I want you to remember The Alamo.”

The Alamo is a historic event in American history when OVERSIZED MEXICAN Army (Mexico - where De La Hoya traces his ancestry) of about 6,000 battled the SMALL (180 - 250) Texan volunteers but the latter held out for several days before being defeated. Days later, the avenging Texans ambushed the sleeping Mexicans (they were having their siesta) and captured their President General Sta. Ana LOL. I hope Pacquiao recovers from initial De La Hoya onslaught and beat this "courageous" guy. I don't like this match up from the start and is against it for obvious reasons but I will support Manny still. I'm his fan - win or lose.

Neon Genesis Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance

Neon Genesis Evangelion You Can Not AdvanceEvangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance is the second movie of the Neon Gensis Evangelion franchise and will reportedly feature Asuka and new Evangelions according to a report from animenewsnetwork.com.

The official Japanese website for the theatrical Neon Genesis Evangelion anime remake has re-launched — thus confirming the tentative release window and English title of the second movie in the project. Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance will open in Japan in early summer of 2009. The first movie, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone, opened in September 2007, earned over 2 billion yen (about US$20 million), and sold over 600,000 copies on DVD.

The website promises that the second movie will feature the fan-favorite character Asuka, the EVA-02 unit, "new Evangelions," "added items previously unknown to anyone," "a shocking new story, and new visuals."

Source

Neon Genesis Evangelion tells the story of a group of apocalyptic survivors fighting a race of aliens called Angels using robots called Evangelions. Last year, SCI-FI magazine reported that some outfit called Weta productions has secured the rights for a live-action version of the anime. No word yet what happened to the project. I hope it was shelved. Nothing good ever comes out of Hollywood anime remakes. Their directors and creative people cannot fathom or understand the mangaka's vision of their work to be. Please just stick to Scooby Doo remakes or Voltron.

2008 Asia Song Festival; Rivermaya will Perform

Torpe not Trope

The 2008 Asia Song Festival will START today (as in the highlight performances or main event, so to speak). It is said to be an event where "musicians" around Asia gather to celebrate music but in reality a show to promote Korean artists to people outside of Korea. Usually, Korean fans show disdain towards guest performers from other countries and last year none of the Korean representatives even bothered to show up at the press conference (see popseoul for details) of the festival. Music festival goers around the world know they will be exposed to other people's music and are open-minded about it. After all this is what music festival is about - an exchange of culture. It will go wrong if it's just a thinly-disguised marketing event which is what Korea's Asia Song Festival is. Barbie Almalbis' song Torpe became Trope. Don't believe me check out the youtube video. Watch it. As added bonus Thai singers Golf & Mike became TAI LOL. It is another video though.

I know a barangay festival that could organize a better event than this one.

This total lack of respect to other Asian performers is the reason why their "Korean Wave" is waning. It will not happen if the guest performers were "Americans".

I hope they treat guests much better this time.

October 3, 2008 performing artists:

SHINee, 2AM, U-KISS (Korea), Berryz Kobo (Japan), Yoga Lin (Taiwan), Jocie Guo Mei Mei (Singapore), BX (Mongolia), PECK (Thailand), and Rynn Lim (Malaysia).

How on earth am I going to know that I'm drinking Greenfood Yili Fresh Milk and Mengniu Drink since I can't read Chinese characters?

I don't even know how these products look like. To be safe, don't drink anything with Chinese characters. Can you blame me? I can't distinguish Da Jia Hao and Ni Hao in Chinese characters so to be safe I'd rather avoid it. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
Melamine causes Kidney troubles.

When it comes to food, I buy well-known products only. For example, there are many soy sauce brands proliferating in the market these days but I only chose the ones made in this country (as if I'm doing the marketing). I got hold of a soy sauce product made in China and it looks like oil! I don't want to get near it.

Don't eat in cheap looking bakery as the ingredients might be from contaminated milk products.
The former Miss Alaska runner-up was engaged on a debate today with Biden but thankfully I didn't care. I prefer the Presidential debate. What's the job of the Vice-President anyway? Well, the Vice-President job is to replace the President in case something bad happens. Some people are actually scared of voting for McCain for this reason LOL.

Team Pilipinas

Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas identified some Team Pilipinas prospective players today. Of course it includes Junmar Fajardo and Gregory Slaughter. No such luck on other Cebuano basketball players though but the list is not yet final anyway.

SOME JAPANESE WOMEN LIKE FILIPINO MEN

Number of Filipino men married to Japanese women: 117 (2003)

Total No. of Filipino men married to Japanese women: 13,700 (as of 2000)

(I don't intend to write fiction like what Christian Science Monitor did years ago nor am I like Western Men in Asia who think every Japanese women are drooling at them (with disgust is more like it). But in reality, Japanese women don't like Western Men and I don't intend to manipulate data just to prove it. The writer of CSM article watched too many Karate Kid movies. It's a movie. It's fiction for crying out loud.)

Hard is it for some people to believe but it is happening. The Filipino men - Japanese women relationships may not be very visible but it exists and in hundreds too as the numbers above show. These relationships do happen and the numbers don't lie. Why act surprised? Filipino men are not financially well-off but still oozing with charm and appeal (hell yeah!). It is a fact. Live with it.

Our national hero - Jose Rizal - even had a Japanese girlfriend with the name of Osei-san or Seiko Usui.

So three truths are established today

Koreas 2,235
China 890
Phil. 117
Thai. 62
USA 1,529

But considering that the total number of marriages involving Japanese women in 2003 amounted to 712,310, the percentage of Japanese women marrying foreign men amounts to only 1.1% of the total, and the percentage marrying so-called Western men is at most 0.6%. So how you get from this data to the title "WHAT JAPANESE WOMEN WANT--A WESTERN HUSBAND" is really beyond me.

CSM = Fox News = Al Jazeera = Xinhua = KCNA (North Korean News Agency)

THE data about Australians is negligible and was rightly ignored.

  • Japanese do allow their daughters to marry men Filipino men. If you have any problem regarding this: just look at the numbers and do what you have to do.
I hope you are love your Japanese girlfriend because you really love her - no explanation necessary - not for the reason that you have some Japanese women fetish like most Westerners do.

  • Ticket sales reached US$ 17 m last week.
  • The New York press conference was successful today!
  • There's no stopping the meeting between the Pound-for-Pound King vs. The Box Office King despite GAB's misgivings.
